New Delhi: Young Indian pacer Harshit Rana is reportedly said to have been included in India’s Test squad for the third Test match against New Zealand in Mumbai. The development comes after the young pacer earned his call-up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this month.
He was part of the squad as one of the two travelling reserve players for the ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand. He was released in the middle as to make him play a Ranji Trophy match for Delhi against Assam. He displayed tremendous all-round show, claiming figures of 5 for 80 in the first innings before adding 59 runs with the bat while batting at No.8. He returned with two more scalps in the second innings as Delhi were asked to chase 59 in the fourth innings and eventually won by 10 wickets.
According to a report by The Indian Express, Rana was called to join India’s Test squad in Mumbai and the youngster could potentially make his debut.
“The team management wanted me to play domestic before going to Australia and I am glad that I did well in this match both with bat and ball,” Rana told The Indian Express.
There is no confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India regarding Rana’s inclusion to the existing 16-member squad for the final Test against New Zealand. He was named in India’s squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh, but didn’t got the chance to make his international debut.
