Uttarkashi: A much-awaited visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Uttarakhand’s scenic spot Harshil and the winter abode of Ma Ganga has stirred a wave of enthusiasm among the locals, who have returned to their original homes from the lower valleys to meet the Prime Minister.
The Harshil-Mukhba area in Uttarkashi district is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to welcome PM Narendra Modi. On the request of Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Prime Minister is set to visit the region on Thursday to promote winter tourism. The visit has brought a sense of warmth and enthusiasm to the area, which has recently experienced snowfall.
Entire Mukhwa village adorned in anticipation of the prime minister’s visit
Residents of Harshil have returned to their original homes from the lower valleys to welcome the Prime Minister. The Ganga temple at Mukhba, the winter residence of Ma Ganga, and the ancient buildings in the village have been beautifully decorated for the occasion. Prime Minister Modi’s visit is scheduled for Thursday, March 6. He will first visit Mukhba (Mukhimath) and the Ganga temple. Following this, he will reach Harshil at 10:30 am to observe an exhibition showcasing Uttarakhand winter tourism and local products. The Prime Minister will then flag off motorbike and ATV-RTV rallies for Jadung and PDA, as well as trekking expeditions for Janaktal and Mulingla. The cold desert plateau area of Nelang-Jadung-PDA, which has remained untouched by tourism activities, will see new opportunities for tourism development with the launch of these adventure tourism expeditions.

The Prime Minister is also expected to address a public meeting in Harshil. A large pandal has been set up and decorated for the event. District Magistrate Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht, Superintendent of Police Sarita Dobal, and other officials are camping in Harshil to oversee the arrangements. Additional police and administrative officials from other districts have been deployed to ensure the smooth execution of the visit. Tight security measures have been implemented, with various security agencies monitoring the area closely.

Senior officials, including Tourism Secretary Mr. Sachin Kurve, Home Secretary Mr. Shailesh Bagoli, Commissioner Garhwal Division and Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Vinay Shankar Pandey, Director General of Police Mr. Deepam Seth, Additional Director General of Police Dr. V. Murugeshan, and Director General of Information Mr. Vanshidhar Tiwari, visited Harshil to review the preparations for the Prime Minister’s program.
