Chennai: In a shocking turn of events, a father-daughter duo from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested for murdering a 65-year-old woman and transporting her dismembered body in a suitcase. The gruesome discovery was made at Minjur railway station, where police intercepted the suspects.
Initial investigations led police to believe the motive was to protect the daughter from prostitution. However, further inquiry revealed the true motive was theft of the victim’s jewelry.
Twist in Chennai Suitcase Murder: Father’s Claim of Protecting Daughter Exposed as Lie
On the day of the incident, 55-year-old Balasubramaniam and his daughter hastily exited a suburban train at Minjur station, abandoning their suitcase. Police grew suspicious and intercepted the duo. Upon searching the suitcase, they found the dismembered body of Ramani, a 65-year-old woman from Nellore.
During interrogation, Balasubramaniam initially claimed he killed Ramani in anger after she allegedly tried to coerce his 17-year-old daughter into prostitution. However, police discovered inconsistencies in his story and continued investigating.
Further probe revealed that Balasubramaniam’s true intention was to steal Ramani’s jewelry. Police arrested both Balasubramaniam and his daughter, who is a college student, for their alleged involvement in the crime. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder.
