New Delhi: Indian Railways has announced exciting news for millions of its passengers by introducing the Vande Metro version of the Vande Bharat train. This new train is expected to enhance the travel experience for short-distance commuters.
The first successful trial run of the Vande Metro took place on Saturday, marking the beginning of its journey on the tracks.
The trial run of the Vande Metro was conducted between Chennai Beach and Katpadi Junction. The train covered a distance of 130 kilometers during this run. This development brings Vande Metro one step closer to replacing the current MEMU trains.
Top speed will be 130 kmph
The Vande Bharat Metro train is designed for short-distance travel, providing a convenient option for passengers commuting between cities.
The train, which was built at the Integral Coach Factory a few months ago, is a fully air-conditioned service with a top speed of 130 kilometres per hour. The design and features of the Vande Metro are similar to the Vande Bharat trains, including automatic doors and enhanced passenger facilities. However, the Vande Metro does not have a pantry, given its focus on short-distance travel.
During the trial run, the Vande Metro departed from Chennai Beach station at 9.30 am. The Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety and other officials boarded the train at Villivakkam. The exact route of the Vande Metro, whether it will continue between Chennai Beach and Katpadi Junction or operate on another route, has not yet been confirmed.
Vande Metro train will have same facilities as Vande Bharat train
The Vande Metro train is designed to accommodate approximately 100 seated passengers per coach, with space for an additional 200 standing passengers. This capacity ensures that the train can efficiently handle a significant number of commuters.
According to railway sources, the Vande Metro will continue its trial runs over the next few days. Indian Railways aims to launch this train for the general public before August 15. Passengers can look forward to a new, comfortable, and efficient mode of transport for their short-distance travel needs with the introduction of the Vande Metro.
