New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met former Prime Minister of UK Rishi Sunak on Tuesday. Sunak was also accompanied by his wife Akshata Murty, their daughters Krishna and Anoushka, and his mother-in-law Sudha Murthy, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP.
After the meeting, PM Modi shared pictures and said, “It was a delight to meet former UK PM, Mr. Rishi Sunak and his family! We had a wonderful conversation on many subjects.”
PM Modi called Sunak a “great friend of India” and added that he is “passionate about even stronger India-UK ties”.

PM Modi and Sunak share a strong and growing bond, rooted in their mutual respect. In July last year, PM Modi had thanked Sunak who demitted office after the general elections in UK, for his leadership and contribution to the ties between India and UK.
Sunak on tour of India
Earlier on Tuesday, Sunak and his family visited Parliament House in New Delhi, where they were given warm reception by Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh. On Saturday, the family had visited the Taj Mahal in Agra. The former UK Prime Minister also signed the visitor book during the visit. “A truly breathtaking visit. Few places in the world can unite like the Taj Mahal,” he penned.
On Sunday, Sunak and his family visited the iconic Fatehpur Sikri monument. Before that, Sunak had taken part in the Jaipur Literature Festival and attended the fifth T20I match between India and England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
