New Delhi: Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple will celebrate Diwali, the auspicious festival of lights and prosperity, in the presence of Pujya Swayamprakashdas Swami Ji and devotees. The celebration will begin with Diwali Bahipujan on October 31, followed by Govardhan Puja on November 2, 2024, along with Annakut, a feast of vegetarian food offered to God on this sacred occasion.
Pujya Swayamprakashdas Swami Ji, also known as Pujya Doctor Swami, is one of the seniormost sadhus of BAPS. He was initiated into the Sadhu fold by H.H. Yogiji Maharaj in 1961, after completing his MBBS. Pujya Doctor Swami has traveled to 51 countries, delivering spiritual discourses and authoring books on various spiritual topics.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Pujya Doctor Swami blessed the spiritual assembly on Sunday, stating, “Reflection and contemplation on spiritual teachings are essential for achieving personal growth and success.” He highlighted examples from Lord Buddha and Pramukh Swami Maharaj, encouraging the renunciation of ego and the cultivation of virtues. Pujya Doctor Swami also emphasized maintaining a firm belief that God resides within us, aiding in difficult times, and focusing on seeing the good in others. By applying these principles, one can attain success in all aspects of life.
With Pujya Doctor Swami’s inspiring and enlightening words, devotees are eager to begin the Hindu New Year with positivity, dispelling the darkness of anger, greed, and other negative thoughts. They aim to start the new year with the teachings and blessings of Lord Swaminarayan, under the guidance of H.H. Mahant Swami Maharaj.
Shri Dheeraj Dhingre, a volunteer of the youth wing of Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, said, “The entire Akshardham temple is being decorated with lights and rangolis for the festival. A large number of volunteers are working day and night in service.”
