Dehradun: The Dehradun administration has taken another significant action against the violation of standards in the purchase of land of more than 250 square meters without permission by people from other states and in land purchased for a specified purpose.
In the Tehsil Sadar area of Dehradun, the names of individuals related to about 100 bigha of land have been removed, and the government’s name has been registered. In such cases, Sub-District Magistrate Judicial Kumkum Joshi has issued notices to 60 persons in 46 cases and has given them an opportunity to present their side on March 17.
Huge chunk of land purchased by people from Delhi, Haryana, Noida, and West UP
Most of the 100 bigha of land in Tehsil Sadar, which has been registered in the name of the government, was purchased by people from Delhi, Haryana, Noida, and West Uttar Pradesh. A large number of resorts, clubs, pubs, etc., are being run as places of debauchery on the land purchased against the norms. In many places, government and forest land have also been encroached around the purchased land.
The district administration caught 281 such cases in which violation of land purchase rules was found
On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the district administration conducted an investigation in Dehradun and other districts and caught 281 such cases where land purchase rules were violated. If seen in terms of area, such land was found to be more than 750 bighas in the district. Following this, Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal issued an order and directed all the DMs to dispose of all the cases in the month of February. The administration had vested about 300 bighas of land in the government at the beginning of February.
SDM (Judicial) has issued a total of 46 notices, in which 60 persons were involved
Now, in the Tehsil Sadar area, the names of individuals related to 100 bighas of land have been deleted, and the government’s name has been registered in the revenue records. After this action, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sadar (Judicial) Kumkum Joshi has issued a total of 46 notices, in which 60 persons are parties. Everyone has been given the date of March 17, 2025, to present their side in relation to this action. In case of not presenting their side by the stipulated time, the land will be immediately and finally vested in the government.
Over 1,000 bighas of land in the state capital that has been encroached upon fraudulently
In the first week of this month, the Dehradun district administration has identified over 1,000 bighas of land in the state capital that have been encroached upon fraudulently. Of this, 300 bighas have already been reclaimed. Officials say the process to recover an additional 750 bighas of land is currently underway.
