New Delhi: A Delhi man’s Dhanteras shopping experience on Blinkit made headlines online. He claimed he was delivered a 0.5-gram coin instead of a 1-gram gold coin. His post on X garnered several comments from netizens. Blinkit responded to the incident.
Mohit Jain ordered a 1-gram gold coin and a 10-gram silver coin from Blinkit but only received a coin worth 0.5 grams. In his post, the man claimed that his younger brother received his prepaid order in his absence. On arriving home, he checked the product and realized he hadn’t received the correct order. “Got scammed by Blinkit,” wrote the disappointed customer on X. Though he tried to contact customer care via the app at the time, the return window for the product had already closed and he could not speak to the customer service executives. Jain also told netizens that he even cried speaking to the delivery agent who had delivered him the wrong product. He concluded the post by asking X users to help sort the issue.

Jain’s post garnered the attention of many netizens. They slammed the app and even called its customer care a “shitshow of a joke”. Some netizens even reprimanded those who trustingly ordered expensive items from delivery apps.
Meanwhile, Blinkit responded to the issue. “It was a case of human error in picking the wrong item at the store. As the stock of the correct product was finished at the store, we have refunded the full amount of the order to the customer and picked up the incorrect item,” said a spokesperson. They added, “We do OTP-based handovers for high-value items. This allows customers to check the product before accepting orders.”
