New Delhi: Gold Prices Today in India surged to new highs of Rs 82,000 per 10 gm, up Rs 1,000 per 10 gm, according to data shared by the All India Sarafa Association, led by heavy buying ahead of the festival of lights. The price of 99.9 per cent purity gold surged Rs 1,000 per unit to a new peak of Rs 82,400 per 10 gm in the national capital.
The price of 99.5 per cent purity gold also rose Rs 1,000 per unit to an all-time high of Rs 82,000 per 10 gm. The price of 99.9 per cent and 99.5 per cent purity gold stood at Rs 81,400 and Rs 81,000 per 10 gm, respectively, on Tuesday. Rising consumer demand ahead of Diwali season to commemorate Dhanteras led to the surge in gold prices. The upcoming US presidential elections have also spurred uncertainty in global markets which in turn led to a surge in gold purchases across the globe.

Gold price changes in October 2024
Gold prices have risen over 35 per cent year in October 2024 to Rs 82,400 per 10 gm from Rs 61,200 per 10 gm in the year ago period. Gold prices in India rose Rs 542 per unit to Rs 79,775 per 10 gm earlier on Wednesday. Expectations of a [Donald] Trump victory in the US also buoyed gold prices, according to Jateen Trivedi, VP-Research Analyst for commodities and currencies at LKP Securities. Comex gold futures were up 0.60 per cent or $16.80 per ounce to $2,797.90 per ounce.
A decline in US Treasury yields and the US dollar are also likely to have driven the rally in gold prices, according to Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst of Commodities at HDFC Securities.
Silver Price Today in India
Silver Prices continued their positive streak for the 5th straight day by rising Rs 1,300 per unit to Rs 1.01 lakh per kg from the previous day’s closing price of Rs 99,700 per kg. Silver prices have risen 36 per cent from Rs 74,000 per kg a year ago. Comex silver futures were flat at $34.45 per ounce in Asian markets.
