New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met several world leaders and technology industry CEOs on Sunday. He interacted with technology leaders during a roundtable that was anchored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the School of Engineering, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
Sharing a statement, the ministry further said that the conference focussed on several topics which include Biotechnology and Life Sciences; Artificial Intelligence and Quantum; Computing, IT and Communication; and Semiconductor technologies. Apart from these, the industry leaders also discuss the evolving technology landscape at a global level and how these technologies are playing an important role in contributing to the well-being of people across the globe including in India.
CEOs discuss on role played by technology in innovation
CEOs discussed how technology is playing a crucial role in innovations, which help in revolutionising the global economy and human development, the Ministry added further. During the meeting, the CEOs also expressed their strong desire to invest or collaborate with India.
“India’s growing prominence as a global technology hub, driven by its innovation-friendly policies and flourishing market opportunities, got much appreciation from the tech leaders. They also agreed that investing in startups would be a synergistic opportunity to innovate and develop newer technologies in India,” the MEA statement further read.
PM Modi meets leaders of different countries
PM Modi met leaders from several countries including his Nepalese counterpart K P Sharma Oli, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Taking to X, the prime minister wrote, “Had a very good meeting with Prime Minister KP Oli in New York. The India-Nepal friendship is very robust and we look forward to adding even more momentum to our ties. Our talks focused on issues such as energy, technology, and trade.”
Sharing further details, the MEA said that the prime minister expressed deep concern at the humanitarian situation in Gaza and reaffirmed India’s continued support to the people of Palestine, during his meeting with the Palestinian leader, the MEA said in a message on X.
