New Delhi: Team India’s Test and ODI skipper Rohit Sharma is enjoying his off time as he is currently on a well-deserved break after a long season. The Hitman was expected to be rested from India’s recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. However, he joined the squad at the request of head coach Gautam Gambhir and led the team in the 3-match rubber.
Recently reports had claimed that Rohit and senior batter Virat Kohli might feature in the upcoming Duleep Trophy to prepare for India’s Test series against Bangladesh next month. However, both senior players long with ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah were rested from the domestic red-ball tournament which is set to get underway from September 05.
Rohit is currently enjoying off time on a well-deserved break and was recently spotted chilling with India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and his former teammate Dhawal Kulkarni among others. Rohit and Nayar, who are good friends were seen bonding over a meal in a picture shared by Kulkarni on his official Instagram handle.

Rohit will make his return for Team India when the hosts gear up to take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series next month. The Hitman will be back leading the Indian team in the series which will be a crucial one for the hosts considering their chances of making it to the final of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC).
Gill, Jadeja and other India regulars to feature in Duleeep Trophy
While Kohli and Rohit have been handed an exemption considering their workload, several India regulars, including the likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj among others will feature in the first round of matches in the Duleep Trophy. Those selected in India’s Test squad for the Bangladesh series will be released after the first round.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Gill and Abhimanyu Easwaran will be leading their respective teams in the Duleep Trophy.
