New Delhi: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand has claimed he is getting death threats after he asked UP CM Yogi Adityanath to step down following a stampede at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on the occasion of Mauni Amawasiya on January 29.
Speaking to TV Network, Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand said, “People working at my office told me that I am getting death threats on social media for speaking against the government. A statement has been issued offering Rs 1 crore for beheading me.”
‘Got notice to evacuate Ashram’
Avimukteshwaranand also claimed that a letter has been issued asking him to evacuate his ashram for speaking the truth.
“This is not the time to debate who is a real or fake Shankaracharya or whether one is a saint or not. It is about speaking the truth and exposing lies. If Ram Bhadracharya seeks my help to reveal the truth, then I will support him,” Avimukteshwaranand told TV9 Network.
Avimukteshwaranand has been criticised since he spoke against the mismanagement at Maha Kumbh and asked Yogi Adityanath to resign. Swami Avimukteshwaranand said this is not the time to speak the language of the government as one cannot lie about death.
‘No connection with Congress’
The religious guru also said that he contested student union election on Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) ticket, but now he has no connection with them.
The religious guru also claimed that he has no connection with Congress as well.
“Akhilesh Yadav visited me. He is an elected representative of the people. If someone comes to me, should I drive them away? Even if a BJP leader visits, I will not turn them away,” he added.
Avimukteshwaranand also said that he is not running any agenda against the government and is speaking the truth and will continue to do so.
