New Delhi: In an alarming development, Gautam Gambhir, the former cricketer and current head coach, who was also Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has reportedly received a death threat from an outfit which called itself “ISIS Kashmir”.
After receiving the threat, Gambhir was forced to approach the Delhi Police on Wednesday, and sought immediate action. Gambhir formally submitted a request for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) to SHO Rajinder Nagar Police Station and the DCP Central Delhi, according to an ANI report. He also called on law enforcement to take necessary action to ensure his family’s safety and security.
In the wake of the threat, the Delhi Police are expected to probe the matter and take security measures to protect Gambhir and his loved ones.
It was on April 22 that Gambhir reportedly got two threatening emails — one in the afternoon and another in the evening —both containing the message “IKillU”.
In November 2021 also, Gambhir had received a similar email while he was a sitting Member of Parliament.
On Tuesday, Gambhir had taken to X to condemn the Pahalgam terror attack. He wrote: “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.”
