New Delhi: Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Congress’ chief minister face contender in Haryana, is eyeing yet another comfortable win from his bastion of Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat which has been winning for six consecutive terms since the assembly elections in 2000 in Haryana.
As the counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly election results went underway, the latest Election Commission trends gave the former chief minister a lead of 41,077 votes against BJP’s Manju. Hooda has polled 56,875 votes till now while the BJP candidate received 15,798 votes.
Voting on the 90 assembly seats in Haryana was held in a single phase on October 5 and the counting of votes is currently underway and results will start coming in shortly. As per the latest figures, the ruling BJP is eyeing a record third-term return in the state with a lead on 49 seats, three more than the halfway 46 mark.
The Congress, which was predicted to gain a majority mark in Haryana as per the exit polls on Saturday, seemed to be trailing behind with a lead in just 35 seats.
