‘Gangster from Gujarat jail…’: Kejriwal’s Lawrence Bishnoi jibe over attack on Saif

New Delhi: Reacting to the stabbing attack on actor Saif Ali Khan, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal today took potshots at the BJP-led central and the Maharashtra governments while raising concerns safety of people and bringing up jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi over the “lawlessness”.

He said the stabbing incident raises fear about people’s safety when even celebrities with elaborate security arrangements are not safe in their own homes. He prayed for Saif Ali Khan’s well-being, while wishing for his speedy recovery but took the occasion to attack the BJP’s “double engine governments”.

“There’s news coming that a gangster from a Gujarat jail is openly giving shootout, extortion orders without any fear. Gangster across the country are also running their operations. This shows that the criminals have links with the current governments,” Kejriwal said in reference to Lawrence Bishnoi who is lodged in Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail.

“Earlier Salman Khan was attacked, Baba Siddiqui was killed. If the government cannot provide security to such big celebrities then what about the common people? Every day they (BJP) say that they are not able to protect the Indo-Bangladesh border. If they are not able to do it, then they should resign… The double-engine government can neither provide good governance nor security to the people,” he said further taking digs at the BJP-led governments.

The Bishnoi gang has been linked to last year’s shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence and the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an unidentified suspect who broke into his house in Mumbai’s Bandra in the wee hours of Thursday. The actor suffered six wounds including two deep and one close to his spine. He underwent surgeries at the Lilavati Hospital and is now out of danger but under observation.

Police have lodged a case against the suspect with the Crime Branch investigating the matter and questioning multiple people including Saif’s house help and team members. The attacker managed to flee from the spot after stabbing Saif and his maid and yet to be apprehended.
