New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a series of diplomatic activities on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, holding bilateral meetings with several world leaders. PM Modi posted pictures of his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, outgoing US President Joe Biden, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres on X formerly known as Twitter.
A key meeting was with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where discussions centred on enhancing collaboration in crucial sectors such as technology, green energy, security and innovation. With French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi explored ways to further bilateral cooperation in space, energy, and artificial intelligence (AI).
He also congratulated Macron on France’s successful organisation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris earlier this year.
Modi’s meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni focused on strengthening ties across various sectors, including defence, security, trade and technology. Both leaders also explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in culture and education, signifying a comprehensive approach to bolstering bilateral relations.
“Glad to have met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit. Our talks centred around deepening ties in defence, security, trade and technology. We also talked about how to boost cooperation in culture, education and other such areas. India-Italy friendship can greatly contribute to a better planet,” Modi posted on X.
Similarly, PM Modi’s meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto provided a platform to discuss enhancing ties in commerce, security, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Indonesia.
In addition to these key engagements, PM Modi also met with several other world leaders including those from Italy, Indonesia, Norway and Portugal. His meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez underscored the continuing dialogue between the two countries
PM Modi also held productive discussions with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, addressing global issues and reaffirming India’s commitment to multilateralism. He met the Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore.
