The G-20 Summit is set to take place in Delhi from September 9 to 10, and preparations are in full swing as world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Australian PM Anthony Albanese, are expected to arrive on September 8. Delhi Police have heightened security measures to ensure a safe environment for this international event.
Here’s a breakdown of what will be open and closed in Delhi from September 8 to September 10
Schools, colleges, and all offices: Educational institutions and workplaces will remain closed citywide during this period. This also extends to the closure of business establishments, including restaurants, malls, tourist places, and hotels.
Commercial activities: In the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) area, commercial activities will be prohibited. Areas like Connaught Place and the Cantonment zone fall under this district, which means businesses in these locations will remain closed.
Taxis: Taxis will not be available in New Delhi district from 5 am on September 9. However, tourists with valid bookings and cars carrying genuine residents will not face restrictions.
Openings
Essential shops: Medical stores, grocery shops, milk, vegetable, and fruit shops will continue to operate throughout Delhi, including the NDMC area.
ATMs: ATM services will remain operational.
Transport: Commercial vehicles and buses will be allowed on the Ring Road and beyond the Ring Road towards Delhi’s borders.
Metro services: While most of the metro services will run, only the Supreme Court Metro station on the Blue Line will be closed on September 9 and 10. Services will commence at 4 am from September 8 to 10.
Goods vehicles: Specific restrictions apply to various categories of goods vehicles, with essential commodities allowed entry with valid ‘no-entry permission.’
Traffic Restrictions
Traffic will be halted on NH-48 on September 8, affecting companies in Gurugram, which have been advised to implement work-from-home arrangements.
