Bijnor: A shocking incident took place in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, where a man allegedly killed his wife in a violent attack before attempting to take his own life. The tragic incident took place around 4 am on Sunday.
According to local reports, Nizamuddin, who lived in Rangdan Mohalla, had been married to Israna for 16 years, and the couple had five children together. Residents in the area described Nizamuddin as a short-tempered man that often led to frequent arguments between him and Israna.
Man gave triple talaq to his wife twice
The couple’s troubled relationship included a history of domestic issues. Nizamuddin had previously given Israna triple talaq twice, which is a form of divorce in Islamic law, but after undergoing a process called halala, they resumed living together as husband and wife.
The situation escalated earlier this year when Nizamuddin threw acid on Israna on January 1. Following this incident, Israna reported the attack to the police and filed a legal case against her husband. She also returned to her maternal home in Najibabad. In addition, Israna had filed a case seeking maintenance from Nizamuddin.
Man stabbed wife several times
As the legal proceedings continued, Nizamuddin faced a court hearing for the acid attack. Fearing punishment if Israna testified against him, he allegedly called her to his home in Bijnor on Saturday, promising to return her jewellery and resolve their differences.
However, the situation turned fatal in the early hours of Sunday. Nizamuddin reportedly stabbed Israna multiple times, resulting in her death. After the attack, he consumed acid in an apparent suicide attempt.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, police arrived at the spot. They sent Israna’s body for a postmortem and admitted Nizamuddin to a hospital for treatment. Bijnor’s Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Doctor Sanjeev Vajpayee, confirmed that there had been ongoing disputes between the couple and that the entire case is now under thorough investigation.
