Lucknow: The family of Chandan Gupta who was killed in January 2018, have expressed serious apprehensions after it came to light that the accused were getting funds from the various NGOs to fight the case. As per NIA Special court, both domestic and foreign NGOs funded the accused . Chandan’s father Sushil Gupta, who continued to fight despite threats, expressed concerns about the reports and observed that such NGOs must be investigated.
Last week the NIA court awarded life term to 28 accused in the case. One of the accused Salim surrendered in the NIA Special Court recently. The court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. He reached the court in a wheelchair.
“There was a time when no lawyer was ready to fight the case in Kasganj. A huge crowd used to gather for the hearing of the case in Kasganj court. There were also attempts to put pressure to end the case. We then transferred the case from Kasganj to Etah. After that, the hearing started in the NIA court. There is still an atmosphere of fear in the family, even though the accused have been jailed,” Sushil Gupta said while talking about the case, TV9 Bharatvarsh reported.

Know about the entire case
On January 26, 2018, Republic Day, major communal violence broke out in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh. Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, and Hindu Yuva Vahini took part in the Tiranga Yatra. Over 100 youths, on bikes, carried saffron flags and the Tricolor. Chandan Gupta was also part of the group.
However, as soon as the procession reached the Baddunagar area of Kasganj, a fight broke out with a group, which soon turned violent. A firing too took place in the incident leading to the death of Chandan Gupta. The victim was soon taken to hospital but he succumbed to injuries.
