Rising Online Job Scams in Bangalore

In the first case, a 32-year-old woman holding the position of a Human Resource Manager in a private firm became a victim. Contacted through online messages, she was lured into submitting documents and completing tasks for an enticing work-from-home job. Eventually, the fraudster proposed an investment opportunity promising a return of Rs 7,000 in exchange for an investment of Rs 5,000. Tempted by the offer, the woman invested Rs 6 lakh, only to realize the deception later.

Financial Security at Risk

A similar unfortunate incident targeted a 29-year-old housewife. Approached by a fellow woman for a work-from-home job, the homemaker eagerly embarked on the opportunity. Initially, she was tasked with writing reviews for “I am London Airlines,” being rewarded Rs 1,000 for her efforts. Subsequently, more reviews were requested, coupled with a demand to deposit Rs 67,000. Assured of substantial returns, she fell prey to the gang’s scheme, losing her hard-earned money.

Exploitative Nature of Recent Cases

Both incidents transpired on August 15, marking a day of multiple similar frauds perpetrated across the city. These fraudulent gangs exploit individuals’ aspirations for additional income, deceiving them with the allure of significant financial gains. However, the unfortunate reality often unfolds as victims lose their savings, trapped in the web of deceit and empty promises.
