New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has been reported from Jharkhand, a swarm of bees attacked that resulted in the deaths of four members of the same family. The family had been bathing in a pond-like pit when the bees suddenly swarmed and it lead to the fatal outcome. The village is now engulfed in mourning following this horrific event.
The attack occurred in Kosambi village of Karra block, Khunti district. Among the victims were a woman, her two young daughters, and a cousin. The deceased have been identified as Jyoti Gadi, her daughters Monika and Manita Barla and her cousin Rohit Gadi.
Bee swarm ambushed family
According to reports, Jyoti Gadi, a resident of Kosambi village, had returned to her maternal home in Hardag Gara Toli, under Tupudana police station in Ranchi, along with her two minor daughters. Accompanied by some villagers, they had gone to bathe in a water-filled pit when a swarm of bees and bumblebees suddenly attacked. In a desperate attempt to flee, Jyoti, her daughters and Rohit ran for safety but were severely stung before they could escape.
Victims succumb to injuries
Locals rushed the injured family members to a private hospital. However, Monika and Manita, aged 1 and 5 respectively, succumbed to their injuries before receiving treatment. Despite efforts to save them, Jyoti and Rohit later passed away at RIMS hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
The deaths of four family members in a single incident have devastated the village, with fear and panic now spreading among the community, concerned about further bee attacks. Jyoti’s relatives said that she was originally from Hardag Gara Toli and was married to Sunil Barla of Kosambi village.
