Five killed, four injured after milk tanker falls into 200-foot-deep gorge in Maharashtra’s Nashik

New Delhi: At least five people were killed while four others suffered serious injuries after a milk tanker fell into a 200-foot-deep gorge in Maharashtra’s Nashik on Sunday.

Accident on Nashik-Mumbai Highway

The accident occurred on the Nashik-Mumbai Highway in the New Kasara Ghat area. The injured are undergoing treatment at the Primary Health Center in Kasara and the Sub-District Hospital in Shahpur.

After receiving the information a disaster management team reached the spot and began rescue operations. Heavy rainfall in the area was causing difficulties in the rescue efforts.

Injured admitted to hospital

The deceased were identified as Vijay Ghughe (60), Aarti Jaybhai (31), Sarthak Wagh (20), Ramdas Darade (55), and Yogesh – the driver.

The injured have been identified as Akshay Vijay Ghughe, Shlok Jaybhai, Aniket Wagh and Mangesh Wagh.
