New Delhi: Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan complex as well as Bhairav Valley received the first snowfall of the year on Thursday. The weather had been fluctuating and deteriorating since Wednesday evening, with temperatures witnessing a marked dip, which finally led to the much-anticipated snowfall.
Pilgrims visiting the sacred shrine were delighted to witness the snowfall, which brought more thrill to their spiritual odyssey. The surroundings were covered with snow and offered a exhilaratingly picturesque view, with devotees immersing themselves in the serene ambience and capturing memorable moments of the experience on their mobile phones.
Pilgrims enjoy the snowfall, capture the moment
A number of pilgrims enjoyed traversing through the snow, with some taking a moment to admire the stunning beauty of the surroundings. Videos of the first snowfall went viral on social media. The snowfall didn’t deter the tourists in the region, and normal activities were not hampered in any way.
Landslide in August last year
Earlier in August last year, a landslide occurred on the Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route near southern Deori in Jammu, causing a temporary disruption for pilgrims en route to the revered shrine. The incident, which took place amid heavy rainfall in the region, did not result in any injuries. The Yatra then resumed from the alternative route.
Fresh snowfall was seen in February in 2024
Last year, it was in February that fresh snowfall was witnessed in and around the Bhawan of Mata Vaishnodevi. The snowfall was witnessed in Bhairon Ghati, Himkoti in the Trikuta Hills, and along the route leading to the shrine. Despite the snow, the pilgrimage to the temple continued without any disruption.
