Kolkata: A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against former Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun chakraborty at Bidhan Nagar Commissionerate over his provocative statement during a rally in North 24 Parganas district in October.
During the BJP programme, Mithun Chakraborty allegedly said “2026 Election Jitne Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karengay Aur Tumko Tumhari Zamin Pe Gar Denge” (We will do anything to win election in 2026 and bury you in your own land).
Mithum made the statement in Amit Shah’s presence
The FIR is filed with regard to a speech by Mithun made during a BJP programme at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) in Salt Lake area on October 27 in front of Home Minister Amit Shah.
When Mithun uttered objectionable speech, Home Minister was present during the programme aimed at launching the BJP membership drive in West Bengal.

Reacting to the police action, BJP state president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has termed the FIR a result of ‘vendetta politics’. Majumdar also said there was nothing provocative in Mithun’s speech. He said the FIR against Mithun is an attempt to intimidate him by using police, reported PTI.
Bidhannagar Police said they have initiated a probe into the incident. During the programme, Mithun had claimed that the throne of West Bengal will come to BJP in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections and promised to do whatever was required to win the state.
Pointing to TMC MLA’s remark during last Lok Sabha polls, Mithun warned that that no one should dare to threaten BJP workers into abstaining from voting in the 2026 Assembly elections.
