Mewat: In an unusual turn of events, a father of 10 recently married a 20-year-old woman and then approached the court, saying he was under threat in Haryana’s Mewat. The couple sought protection from the court, but instead, the judge imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on them, directing that the amount be deposited into the PGI Poor Fund.
According to reports, the man, a father of 10 from Mewat, married a 20-year-old woman and later approached the police, alleging that his life was in danger. The case reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where the judge said that the couple had sought protection by concealing important details. However, the specific nature of the alleged threat remains unclear.
Man seeks protection
The High Court regularly handles cases involving couples who elope and then seek protection. However, the case stood out due to the man’s prior marriage and the fact that he has 10 children. The 10 children’s father married a woman 10 years his junior.
High Court dismisses plea
In the petition, the woman’s Aadhar card was included, but it was of such poor quality that her identity could not be verified. During the hearing, it also emerged that the man was already married and had 10 children. Expressing surprise, the High Court stated that the petitioners had tried to secure relief by withholding key facts, which was improper. As a result, the court dismissed the petition and imposed a Rs 1 lakh fine on the petitioner. However, the Mewat police have been instructed to ensure the woman’s safety.
