Mumbai: NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal was not given a place in the Fadnavis government’s cabinet expansion. Due to this, Bhujbal is upset, saying that “there is no peace, there will be no peace.” This has sparked discussions about whether Bhujbal will submit a resignation letter to the NCP.
After leaving Nagpur session and reaching Nashik to hold discussions with his supporters, it is being speculated that Bhujbal is preparing to leave the party. Why exactly is Chhagan Bhujbal upset? Is it solely because he did not get a ministerial berth? What are the reasons behind Bhujbal’s dissatisfaction?
Why is Chhagan Bhujbal upset?
After the split in NCP, Bhujbal aligned himself with Ajit Pawar. During the subsequent Rajya Sabha elections, the NCP had two candidates slated for the Rajya Sabha. Bhujbal expressed his desire to be one of them.
However, Ajit Pawar nominated his wife, Sunetra Pawar and Nitin Patil – a candidate who had lost in the Lok Sabha elections – for the two seats. Ajit Pawar justified Nitin Patil’s nomination as fulfilling a prior commitment. This decision left Bhujbal upset.
Another reason for Bhujbal’s displeasure is the party’s directive for him to contest the Lok Sabha elections. A meeting was held with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, during which both leaders instructed Bhujbal to secure election to the Lok Sabha from Nashik. Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare and Praful Patel conveyed this to Bhujbal.
According to Bhujbal, Sunil Tatkare also confirmed this directive. Bhujbal began preparations for the Lok Sabha elections. However, despite a month passing, his candidacy was not announced.
While the names of other candidates were revealed, Bhujbal’s name was conspicuously absent. Bhujbal questioned the leaders about this, but he received no response. Feeling ignored and disheartened, Bhujbal declared that he would not contest the Lok Sabha elections.
