Srinagar: Even as counting is on for the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah reiterated his views that exit polls were a waste of time. He added that those spending their time even on exit polls should be ridiculed.
Taking to X on Tuesday, Omar Abdullah said, “If you pay for exit polls or waste time discussing them, you deserve all the jokes/memes/ridicule. There was a reason I called them a waste of time a few days ago.”
‘Amazed with news channels’
Earlier on Saturday, Abdullah said that he was amazed by how news channels were showing exit polls even after the fiasco during the general elections this year. Notably, days ahead of the general election results several channels claimed that the BJP would reach the majority mark. However, when results were announced, the results showed that the party was short of majority.
“I’m amazed channels are bothering with exit polls, especially after the fiasco of the recent general elections. I’m ignoring all the noise on channels, social media, WhatsApp Etc because the only numbers that matter will be revealed on the 8th of Oct. The rest is just time pass,” he wrote on X on Saturday.
Omar to be the new CM: Farooq Abdullah
Meanwhile, his father and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah said that Omar would be the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. “Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister,” he said while speaking to reporters on Tuesday. He observed that today’s verdict suggested that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were against the abrogation of Article 370.
He added that the elected government has a lot of work to do to end the “sufferings” of the people of the Union Territory.
