New Delhi: Former BJP leader and spokesperson Nighat Abbas has joined the Congress ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. Along with her, social worker Bhagirath Manjhi, who is the son of ‘Mountain Man’ Dashrath Manjhi, has also joined the grand old party in presence of All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The joining took place in the presence of AICC media and publicity department in-charge Pawan Khera and Bihar Congress President Akhilesh Prasad Singh. Congress said those who have joined the Congress today were influenced by its ideology.

Dashrath Manji’s son also joins Congress
Among other who joined the party include Manoj Prajapati, State President (All India Prajapati Kumbhar Sangh, (Bihar), Nishant Anand, former national spokesperson of AAP, Ali Anwar Ansari, National President of All India Pasmanda Muslim Society and former MP, Dr. Jagdish Prasad, the country’s renowned heart surgeon and Padma Shri, Nighat Abbas, former national spokesperson of BJP
and author Frank Huzur.
Bihar Congress President Akhilesh Prasad Singh praised the joining of new members. He said Ali Anwar has worked for the Pasmanda community for three decades.
“I would like to welcome all the new members into the party. Bihar Assembly elections are due in this year and Congress will be strengthened with their arrival. The party will certainly gain from their work on the ground,” said Akhilesh Prasad Singh while addressing the media.
