New Delhi: After Ektaa Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor were booked under the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, TV Czarina’s ALTBalaji, also known as Alt Balaji Telefilm Limited, has now addressed the controversy around their show, Gandi Baat.
Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor are booked for showing obscene scenes of minor girls in an episode of Gandi Baat Season 6. The case was booked by Mumbai police against Ektaa, her mother Shobha, and her production company, ALTBalaji. ALTBalaji issues clarification on Gandi Baat controversy
In a statement, ALT Digital Media Entertainment clarified that they are “fully compliant with all applicable laws including the POSCO Act” and any references to “engagement of minors” are “entirely incorrect”. It further stated that Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor are “not involved” in the day-to-day operations of the company and it is managed by separate teams. The statement concluded by saying that the company has complete faith in the judiciary and is fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. It also added that since the matter is “sub-judice”, they refrain from commenting in detail.
The official statement was shared on Instagram by a paparazzo, Varindar Chawla. However, he deleted the post later.
What’s the Gandi Baat controversy all about?
The case is registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 295-A, IT Act and sections 13 and 15 of the POSCO Act. It is related to the web series, Gandi Baat Season 6. According to FIR, the alleged offence took place in February-April 2021 and the complainant has alleged that the web series showed juvenile girls in obscene scenes. Currently, the episode in question is off-air. The complainant even alleged that defamatory content has been shown about great leaders in the web series. As per the reports, Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor will appear for questioning on October 24.
