New Delhi: In a letter to union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, the father of the junior doctor who was raped and murdered inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital said that he and the woman’s mother are reeling under enormous mental pressure and feeling helpless. They requested Shah to spare a few minutes to meet them.
The father wrote in the letter that he wishes to request for an appointment with Shah at the minister’s convenience or any other location as he may suggest. “After that heinous unforeseen incident happened to our daughter, we have been going through tremendous mental pressure and feeling helpless now,” he pointed out.
According to PTI, the letter read: “I along with my wife want to meet with you to discuss a few things regarding the situation and pray for your guidance and help. I would truly be grateful for the opportunity to speak with you and gain your insights on the issue, as I believe your experience and guidance would be invaluable,”
He said he would appreciate the minister’s time and consideration of this request and was looking forward to his favourable response… and an opportunity to meet Shah.
‘Will tell him about mental agony’
The victim’s mother was quoted as saying by PTI that she was hopeful to get an appointment from Shah. She added that she would share with him the mental agony they have been facing since the incident on August 9 as their daughter is yet to get justice.
After the rape-murder of the junior doctor, the police arrested a civil volunteer Sanjay Roy for the crime. The CBI, which took over the investigation, arrested Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College, and Abhijit Mondal, the officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station who has now been suspended.
