Spotify is getting better, not with a new design or features, but an essential capability to let you enjoy the music even without the internet. No, it is not about the Downloaded songs that you need to manually download your favourite tracks to be able to listen to them later without the internet. However, Spotify has recently introduced “Offline Backup” which will help you listen to even your favourite tracks which you forget to download and move from signal to no signal area.
What will it do? As per a blog post by the music giant, the new feature will let you automatically download recently played or queued songs as well as playlists to let you continue the music without the internet too. The best part is that it doesn’t need you to manually download the tracks. It will be a great option for those who frequently move from the signal area to the no-connection zone.
“To do this, we include tracks already stored on your device as part of your regular listening on Spotify (also known as cache). If you’re looking for a certain vibe, you can filter and sort songs within the playlist by artist, mood, and even genre—and Offline Backup evolves as you continue to listen, so you’ll always have something new,” Spotify mentioned in a blog post.
Spotify Offline Backup: How To Use
To try out the latest Spotify Offline backup feature, first, you need to ensure that you have a Premium account and update the app to the latest version. If you are using Spotify Premium, then whenever you are in a no-network area, the Offline Backup will automatically appear in the Home feed.
However, there is a criterion! You need to make sure that you listened to more than five songs recently. Moreover, ensure that you have enabled offline listening, which can be activated with a simple change in the settings:
- Go to your Settings of the Spotify app
- Tap the Data Saving and then click Offline or Storage
- Here, find the Offline Listening mode and simply activate it.
You can also scroll up to filter the playlist by artist, mood or genre. Not just your phone, but this feature will be applicable in Apply CarPlay and Android Auto. It is available to both Android and iOS users.
