Srinagar: An encounter was underway between suspected terrorists and a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir police and Indian army on Thursday late night in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir
While updating about the ongoing encounter, Kashmir Zone Police said that the forces were mobilised acting on a specific input regarding the presence of terrorists in Panipora Sopore area of Baramulla. A joint anti-terrorist operation was launched by security forces. The police also said that an exchange of fire took place during the search operation.
Indian Army also updated about the ongoing encounter on its page on X. It said soldiers were relatiled the fire from the terrorists.

“On 07 Nov 24, based on specific intelligence regarding presence of terrorists, a joint Operation launched by the #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice in Panipura, Sopore, #Baramulla. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. Own troops effectively retaliated. Operation is in progress,” said the Indian Army.
As per the latest reports coming in, the security forces have resume the encounter on Friday early morning.
