New Delhi: Amid the heightened political tension, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. The resignation was tendered in the presence of Mahayuti alliance partners, composed of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit).
The aftermath of the Mahayuti alliance’s sweeping victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections has been anything but straightforward. While BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is considered the frontrunner, Shinde’s faction is aggressively lobbying to keep him in the top job, creating a complex and uncertain situation.
