New Delhi: Hours before Devendra Fadnavis’s swearing-in as Maharashtra CM, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday said that the era of Eknath Shinde’s rule was over. He claimed that Eknath Shinde would “never be the CM of this state again”. Talking to reporters, Raut alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party had used Shinde and thrown him aside.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader underlined that Shinde era is over, “it was just for two years”. He added that Shinde had been used and discarded. “He will never be the CM of this state again,” Raut said. He also said that the BJP was employing its political strategy to weaken and dismantle parties that align with them.
Raut said that the saffron party could even dismantle Shinde’s party; this has always been the BJP’s approach in politics – they break and finish off the parties of those who tie up with them.
Raut indicated that there was a possible rift within the Mahayuti, the ruling alliance, and said that the “issue will start showing up from tomorrow”.
He said, “Devendra Fadnavis will be the CM of the state from today. He has the majority but despite that, they were unable to form the Government for 15 days – it means that there is something wrong within their party or Mahayuti.”
Raut alleged that they (Mahayuti) are not working in the interest of Maharashtra or the country. “They have come together out of their selfishness…But people across the state have come out on the streets against the election results, that they do not accept it. Still, the state is getting the CM today, we welcome him,” Raut said as per ANI.
‘I am happy with completion of 2.5 years’ tenure’
Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde expressed his satisfaction with the two-and-a-half-year tenure of the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra. “I am very happy with the completion of two-and-a-half years. The work done by our government–the Mahayuti government–by the three of us and our team in the last 2.5 years is remarkable. It will be written in golden letters in history. We are proud to have taken such significant decisions,” he said.
