New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s birthday celebration took an unusual turn when he used an iPhone to cut his cake, a moment quickly captured and shared on social media.
The video shows Shinde surrounded by supporters, using his phone to slice into a large cake, while another cake featuring a crowned image of himself sits nearby. This unconventional method of cake-cutting sparked considerable online buzz.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his birthday wishes to Shinde via X (formerly Twitter), praising him as a “dynamic grassroots leader” dedicated to Maharashtra’s development and upholding the vision of Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe. This public acknowledgement from the Prime Minister underscores Shinde’s standing within the BJP and his perceived commitment to the Shiv Sena’s original ideals.
“Best wishes to Shri Eknath Shinde Ji on his birthday. He is a dynamic grassroots leader whose life has been devoted to developing Maharashtra and fulfilling the vision of Pujya Balasaheb Thackeray and Dharamveer Anand Dighe. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also conveyed his greetings on X, wishing Shinde a long and healthy life. “Heartfelt birthday greetings to Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde Ji! Wishing you a long life and good health!.”
Several other leaders joined in the birthday wishes. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath referred to Shinde as a “popular leader” and prayed for his good health, long life, and continued success.
