New Delhi: If you are crazy about spicy golgappas, beware! A video that has surfaced from Jharkhand will leave you alarmed and in utter disbelief.
In this video, the dough prepared for making golgappas can be seen being kneaded with feet instead of hands. What’s more, to enhance the flavour of the golgappas, obnoxious chemicals like urea and Harpic are also being mixed. After the video went viral on social media platforms, the police swung into action and arrested two persons involved in the case.
As the video emerged and was circulated widely, there was an outcry among the local residents. They are venting their ire against the accused, stating that no one has the right to jeopardise the health of consumers in this manner. News9live couldn’t verify the authenticity of the video circulating on social media.
The incident occurred in the Majihaan police station area of Garhwa district in Jharkhand. The enraged local residents informed the Majihaan police about the two golgappa vendors involved in the incident, after which they were arrested.
Both accused are residents of Uttar Pradesh
After being interrogated, one of the accused vendors revealed how they would mix urea and Harpic in the golgappa to enhance the taste, claiming that this method improved the flavour.
Both accused vendors are residents of Uttar Pradesh. One of them is Arvind Yadav, while the other is Satish Kumar Srivastava. Arvind Yadav hails from the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh, whereas Satish Kumar Srivastava is from the Jalaun district.
The police and district administration have sent the chemicals and other food materials recovered from the accused for laboratory testing. Stringent legal action is going to be taken against the two accused.
