Prayagraj: Preparations are in full swing for the Maha Kumbh Mela, which will be held in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26 next year. The Mela, which is held every 12 years, is expected to attract 43 crore pilgrims.
While authorities are making every effort to ensure that pilgrims do not face any difficulties, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth is himself overseeing the entire preparations. He has also asked officials to provide a seamless experience for pilgrims attending the over month-long Mela from across the country and abroad.
CM Adityanath reviewed preparations earlier this week
According to a report published in the Hindustan Times, the Chief Minister reviewed the preparations earlier this week. During the meeting, he assured me that all arrangements for the event would be finalized by December 10.
Importantly, PM Narendra Modi is slated to visit the Holy City on December 13. During his visit, the PM will perform Ganga ‘aarti’ and will also inaugurate several development projects. He will also see a presentation on the ‘Digital Kumbh’ during the visit.
The number of tents to be increased
The Chief Minister asked authorities to deploy 20 advanced drones to ensure proper security at the event. These drones will not only help with proper surveillance but will also capture detailed activities. Compared to the 2019 Kumbh Mela, the upcoming Mahakumbh will be expanded by 800 hectares. The number of tents will be increased to 1.8 lakh.
Recently, Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed a number of road infrastructure projects for Maha Kumbh. They reviewed plans for widening the Raebareli-Prayagraj highway, constructing of four-lane bypasses, and building a six-lane bridge over the Ganga at Phaphamau.
