Driver loses control of car while using Snapchat, vehicle falls into river; 2 dead

Bhopal: Using a mobile phone while driving can be life-threatening. Some people talk on video calls, while others chat on WhatsApp. This can cost the driver his life. In an incident that took place in Kolar area of Bhopal, a driver drove the car into a river while using Snapchat.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve on a six-lane bridge. The deceased have been identified as Vineet (22) and Palash Gaikwad (22), who was driving the car. Piyush managed to save his life.

How the accident took place

According to police, Vineet was not only speeding at the time of the accident but was also using Snapchat. He lost control of the vehicle while trying to make a turn on the bridge, causing the car to crash into a guardrail and fall into the river below.

After the collision, the car door locked, trapping the three inside. Piyush escaped by breaking the window and was injured. He immediately informed the police about the incident.

Bodies sent for postmortem

The police, who arrived at the spot, broke the windows of the car and tried to extract the bodies of Vineet and Palash. Both died on the spot, and their bodies have been sent for postmortem. 

Piyush has been admitted to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment.
