New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired the Made-in-India Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MP-ATGM) on Tuesday. The test was conducted at a field firing range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, according to DRDO officials.
Portable, shoulder-launched missile system
The MP-ATGM is a portable, shoulder-launched missile system designed to neutralize enemy tanks and armored vehicles. It is equipped with day/night capability and a top-attack mode, featuring a dual-mode seeker for enhanced precision.
Successful missile trials earlier
According to a release by Press Information Bureau, the successful trials of missile were conducted on April 13. The system consisted of the MPATGM, launcher, target acquisition system, and the fire control unit. The Warhead Flight Trials were successfully conducted at the Pokhran Field Firing Range, Rajasthan on April 13, 2024. Missile performance and warhead performance were found to be remarkable.
