New Delhi: In a heartwarming incident, a village in Nipani taluka in the Belgaum district of Karnataka, witnessed a grand celebration for a dog named Maharaj. The black Indie dog was paraded with garlands around its neck and a feast was organised in its honour.
Maharaj’s incredible journey began when it accompanied its owner Kamlesh Kumbhar on a pilgrimage to Pandharpur. However, during the crowded festivities, Maharaj got lost. There were efforts to find him, but he it nowhere to be seen. Kamlesh assumed Maharaj had joined another group. Days later, on July 14, Maharaj astonishingly returned home, covering an incredible distance of 250 kilometres alone. The villagers were stunned and very happy by his miraculous return.
Kamlesh said that Maharaj loves listening to bhajans and had even accompanied him on a padayatra to Jyotiba temple near Mahabaleshwar. The dog’s journey has left everyone in awe, with villagers crediting Panduranga for guiding him home. The village came together to celebrate Maharaj’s return, acknowledging the special bond between the dog and the community. Maharaj’s determination and homing instinct have made him a beloved hero in the village.
Loyal dog waits for owner who passed away
In another incident, a loyal dog was seen waiting outside the Kannur district hospital mortuary in Kerala for almost four months. The tan and white dog’s owner remains unknown, but its patience suggests they may have been a patient who passed away. Hospital staff have tried to identify the owner, but to no avail. The dog, named “Ramu” by Dr Maya Gopalakrishnan, refuses to leave the mortuary ramp, hoping for its master’s return. It has specific food preferences and does not socialise with other stray dogs. A potential adoption offer from a local woman brings hope for Ramu’s future. Despite the uncertainty, Ramu’s unwavering loyalty has captured the hearts of hospital staff and visitors alike.
