New Delhi: With the festival of Diwali approaching, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced its decision to introduce 60 additional trips on Tuesday and Wednesday. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the massive rush of commuters during the festival. The DMRC has also urged people to take public transport to avoid traffic on roads.
“Delhi Metro is adding 60 extra trips on Tuesday and Wednesday to ensure smoother and more convenient travel for all commuters. Whether you’re heading to festive markets, visiting friends and family, or simply exploring the city, avoid traffic and pollution by choosing the Metro. Let’s make this festive season hassle-free and sustainable with every ride,” the message shared by DMRC on X said.
Step to help large number of commuters
With nearly 4,000 trips daily in operation, these extra services are likely to help them to a massive extent. The step will not only help people to reach their destinations quicker but also help in reducing the traffic on Delhi roads to a large extent. Even as, the Delhi Government has already banned production, selling or buying of crackers in Delhi, the commuters are also prohibited to carry firecrackers in trains of Delhi Metro.
DMRC guidelines on inflammable items
As per the guidelines, apart from any type of inflammable substance, if any person brings a toy pistol inside the Delhi Metro premises, the same will be detained and the person will also be detained for questioning. The person will be relieved only after providing satisfactory answers to the authorities. Notably, the Delhi Government had earlier banned firecrackers in Delhi till January 1, 2025. The step was taken to reduce pollution in Delhi.
