Diwali School Holidays 2024: Diwali, also known as Deepavali or Deepotsav is scheduled to be held all over the country on October 31. Due to the Diwali festival, states have announced holidays for schools, colleges, educational institutions, work places. Schools in all over India will be closed on October 31, but there are separate school holidays list state-wise. The students should check the respective state government direction on school, educational institution closure on the same. In the national capital, schools will be closed on Thursday, October 31 for Diwali celebration. In Uttar Pradesh, schools will be closed on October 31 due to Diwali, and is scheduled to be closed on November 2 (Govardhan Puja), November 3 (Bhai Dooj).
The schools in Jammu will observe a five day holiday for Diwali. The schools in Jammu will be closed between October 29 and November 2 and will remain open on November 4. Meanwhile in Tamil Nadu, schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed on November 1 for Deepavali celebrations. Though Diwali is the major celebrations in most part of the India, while some states like West Bengal, Assam, Odisha celebrates Kali Puja or Shyama Puja or Mahanisha Pujaduring Diwali. There will be government holiday due to Kali Puja celebration in West Bengal, other states on October 31.
