New Delhi: As Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals near, lakhs of passengers are looking to book train tickets to reach their destinations. Indian Railways is operating over 7,000 festival special trains from October 1 to November 30, to assist passengers in traveling home for the festive season. IRCTC allows passengers to book train tickets in regular trains like Rajdhani Express, Vande Bharat Express, other express trains and festival special trains.
All the trains are running to their full capacity during this season. Several people might be struggling to get confirmed tickets, because of the huge passenger rush and the last-minute travel plan. In such a scenario, IRCTC’s tatkal booking comes as a boon as it allows tickets to be booked just one day before departure date. Railways keeps seats reserved in tatkal quota in AC and Non-AC compartments. You can book offline tatkal tickets at Reservation counters and online at IRCTC website. The tatkal window opens only for an hour 10 am to 11 am for AC coach tickets, and 11 am to 12 noon – for sleeper class. One can book for only 4 passengers per PNR.
