New Delhi: As New Year’s Eve approaches, party organisers in Diu are making special arrangements to accommodate guests especially those coming from the dry Gujarat. With many people planning to cross the border to celebrate in Diu, organisers are making arrangements to ensure that tourists can enjoy the festivities without facing harassment on their way back.
To tackle potential harassment for the returning revellers from the police, who have been accused of causing inconvenience to travellers crossing the border between Daman and Gujarat, New Year party organisers in Diu have arranged night stays for the guests. It is designed to help people from Gujarat avoid the inconvenience caused by the police checks while returning late at night.
Organisers hope to provide comfortable experience
By offering accommodations overnight, organisers hope to provide a safer and more comfortable experience for tourists, particularly those from Gujarat, where alcohol is banned. Tourists will now have the option to stay in Diu and return to Gujarat the next day.
Local MP Umesh Patel has given his support to the initiatives, recognising the challenges faced by tourists, especially those travelling from Gujarat. Patel has appealed the tourists to celebrate responsibly and he has encouraged them to take advantage of the overnight arrangements to avoid travelling under the influence.
“We want visitors to have a joyful celebration without any undue stress or harassment. We are working to ensure they can enjoy Diu and return home safely the following morning,” Patel said in a statement.
