New Delhi: Taking cognizance of repeated ‘deliberate pressure tactics’, the Election Commission on Tuesday said that it would not sway away from pressure tactics. Issuing a message on X, the Commission said that actions on issues raised by political parties are taken in each instance.
The statement came a day after former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal said that it seemed like the Election Commission did not exist. Addressing a press conference, he had a message for the commission saying “Do your duty” and “Give up the desire” for the post.
Sharing a message on X, the EX wrote, “The 3-member Commission collectively noted repeated deliberate pressure tactics to malign ECI in Delhi Elections, as if it is a single member body & decided to have constitutional restraint, absorbing such outbursts with sagacity, stoically & not to be swayed by such insinuations.”
‘Action in issues raised by political parties are taken in each instance’
It added, “Action on issues raised by political parties and candidates are taken in each instance by over 1.5 lakh officials in Delhi Assembly Election2025 who are functioning within an established legal framework, robust processes & SoPs ensuring fair play and non-partisan conduct.”
Earlier, Kejriwal and other AAP leaders had claimed that the EC was ignoring the BJP’s alleged violations of poll code. Kejriwal had also alleged that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar was not taking action against the BJP as he was looking for post-retirement posts. Notably, Kumar will retire on February 1 . Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu are the other election commissioners.
