New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on Thursday issued an order banning the use of drones and other aerial devices in the city due to the possibility of a terrorist attack on August 15. The ban includes paragliders, para motors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), micro light aircraft, hot air balloons, para jumping and drones.
The official statement highlighted concerns that criminals or terrorists might use these aerial platforms to threaten public safety, important dignitaries, or vital installations. As a precaution, these activities are now prohibited across Delhi.
This order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, will be effective from August 2 to August 16. Violating this order will be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The order will be communicated through press announcements and notices at police stations, tehsil offices, and other public offices.
The Delhi Police urged the public to comply with this order to ensure the safety and security of the city during the Independence Day celebrations.
