Delhi: Nursing student found dead in New Ashok Nagar, cops suspect suicide; probe on

New Delhi: In yet another death of a medical professional reported this time from Delhi, a nursing student was found dead. The body was discovered behind a closed door, in a house in the New Ashok Nagar area, police said.

Police alerted by PCR call, suicide suspected

The police received a PCR call about a girl lying unconscious in a locked room in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar on Sunday morning. Soon police personnel and officials from the fire department reached the spot and broke open the door of the house. Upon entering they found the girl lying on the floor with a cannula in her hand and two drips hanging from a ceiling fan.

The Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) medical staff who checked upon her, declared her dead. Her body has been moved to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Police suspect that the girl died by suicide. Her family members have been informed about her death.

Meanwhile the police have started a probe in the matter. They have seized her mobile phone from the room where she was lying dead and are carrying out a thorough investigation. They hope to get some clues regarding her death soon.

AIIMS doctor death

On August 18, a doctor at AIIMS Delhi was found dead. In this case too, the police had said that the reason for death was suicide. Investigations revealed that the 34-year-old neurosurgeon had probably died of an overdose.

The deceased was identified as Raj Ghonia, a resident of Rajkot in Gujarat.During investigations, police recovered used vials of medicines and syringes from his home in Gautam Nagar. In his suicide note, the doctor did not blame anyone for his death. The police had been alerted of this death too, in a similar manner, like the New Ashok Nagar case, a PCR call. So far there are no leads on why the neurosurgeon decided to take the extreme step.
