New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently answered commuters concerns regarding the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) and its smart card. Many commuters reported that Delhi Metro smart cards were not being issued to them and NCMC cards were prioritized instead.
Issuing a statement, the Delhi Metro authorities explained that the NCMC initiative, launched by the Government of India, aims to simplify transportation by allowing passengers to use a single card for multiple transportation services. The NCMC card also allows you to make retail transactions. In addition to this, just like the Delhi Metro smart cards, the NCMC card also offers discounts ranging from 10 per cent to 20 per cent.
How to buy, recharge NCMC cards?
The Delhi Metro added that NCMC cards are easily available at metro stations and can be purchased at bank kiosks. They can also be recharged at customer service centers and via bank apps. For those who prefer not to use an NCMC card, there’s an option to purchase a multiple journey QR ticket via the mobile app. Additionally, the Delhi Metro smart cards are still available for passengers who do not wish to choose the other options.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation assured customers that smart card recharges can be done at service centers, ticket vending machines, various apps, and online platforms. They added that they are committed to provide excellent services and facilities to all passengers.
NCMC benefits
The NCMC is a contactless payment card, which can be easily used for multiple public transport services and other needs. The card can be used for metro, suburban railways, bus, toll, and parking facilities. The NCMC card can also be used to make retail purchases. It can also be used for in-flight purchases, paying taxes and utility bills. The NCMC was launched as part of PM Narendra Modi’s “One Nation, One Card” initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in 2019.
