Delhi: The Directorate of Family Welfare today organized a State-Level Workshop on the Effective Implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act at the Delhi Secretariat. Over 250 participants, including health officials, medical professionals, and stakeholders, attended the event to discuss strategies for strengthening the implementation of the Act.
Honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, inaugurated the workshop and officially launched an online portal for PC & PNDT, which aims to streamline the monitoring and compliance process. Addressing the participants, Dr. Singh assured full government support to officials working towards eliminating gender-biased sex selection and strengthening the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative.
State Program Officer, Dr. Satyajit Kumar, provided a detailed presentation on the portal’s functionalities and how it will enhance transparency and efficiency in enforcing the PC & PNDT Act. The newly launched portal is expected to play a crucial role in curbing illegal sex determination practices and ensuring strict compliance with the law.
The government remains committed to protecting the rights of the girl child and strengthening initiatives that promote gender equality. Officials emphasized that effective implementation of the PC & PNDT Act is a key step in achieving this goal.
