The CCTV footage of the incident, which has surfaced online, shows the man thrown in the air after the accident and fell on the other side of the road. While the accused has not yet been identified, the police are trying to trace the car driver.
Previous hit-and-run case in Delhi
In September this year, a Delhi Police constable who was stationed at Nangloi police station was reportedly killed after he was hit by a speeding car in Delhi. As per the police, the car is allegedly linked to a liquor supplier. After the incident, they sized the car and also issued a look-a-lookout notice against the accused, who was on the run after the incident.
The victim was later identified as Constable Sandip. He was on duty when the incident took place. Sandip was going from Nangloi Police Station towards Railway Road, wearing civilian clothes due to the surge in several thefts in the locality.
The car driver suddenly increased the speed
He had also signaled the driver not to drive at high speed. However, the driver of the car suddenly increased the speed of the vehicle and hit the Constable’s two-wheeler from behind, dragging the bike for 10 metres. After this, the car collided with another vehicle. The entire incident was caught on a CCTV camera.
